Shailene Woodley is an American performer and activist. Her popularity was boosted by her character Alexandra "Alex" King, a teenager suffering from drug addiction, on The Descendants. In addition to the praised performance on The Descendants, Shailene has performed several roles which showed her ability to play challenging characters effortlessly. Shailene was able to earn a prominent place within the film industry at a young age in her career. This is itself an accomplishment. She began her career with TV and commercials however, she quickly moved into Hollywood films. Thanks to her acting skills she's been awarded numerous prizes, such as MTV Movie Awards, People's Choice Awards, and Teen Choice Awards. She has also been nominated for various other prestigious awards like those of the BAFTA Awards. Golden Globe Awards. and Primetime Emmy Awards. Apart from being a successful actress, Shailene Woodley is also an environmentalist and activist. With her mom, she cofounded All it Takes as a nonprofit organization in 2010. In 2010, the Entertainment Industry Environmental Leadership Award was presented to her in 2016, during the International Green Environmental Awards' 20th anniversary celebration, to mark the 20th anniversary of creating the All it Takes non-profit organization.
